Geography
Khanh Hoa is a coastal province in South Central of Vietnam, with territory on land farthest protruding to East Sea. To the North, it borders on Phu Yen Province, the northernmost point: 12052'15 'north latitude. To the South, it borders on Ninh Thuan Province, the southernmost point: 11 042 '50' 'North latitude. To the West, it borders on Dak Lak, Lam Dong, and the westernmost point: 108040'33 'east longitude. To the East, it borders on East Sea, the easternmost point: 109027'55 'east longitude. At Hon Doi cape on Hon Gom Island, Van Ninh District, it is also East Pole on the mainland of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
Besides the part of the territory on the mainland, Khanh Hoa province also has territorial waters, the continental shelf, the coastal islands and the Spratly Islands District. On the mainland and territorial waters is the airspace of Khanh Hoa province.
Geographical location of Khanh Hoa province has great influence of natural factors such as climate, soil and living organisms. Geographical location of Khanh Hoa province has strategic significance in terms of defense, because it is close to international maritime routes, having Spratly island district, Cam Ranh Bay and as the gateway to the East Sea.

Shape – Area
Khanh Hoa province has tapered shape at two tops and bulges in the middle, three sides are mountains, and the East borders on sea. If calculated as the crow flies, the length of the province from North to South about 160 km, and from West to East, the widest place is about 60 km, and the narrowest place is from 1 to 2 km to the North, also in the South is from 10km to 15km.
Khanh Hoa province's area is 5.197 km2 (including the islands, archipelagos), at the average level of the whole country. The water territory is wider many times than the mainland. The coastline is 385 km in length, there are 200 big and small coastal islands and atolls in the Spratlys Island.
Terrain
Khanh Hoa is a province close to the Truong Son mountain range; most of the area is mountainous, the plains are very narrow, only about 400 km2, accounting less than 1/10 of the whole province’s area. The plains are divided into cells, separated by mountains cross to the sea. Although Khanh Hoa rarely has towering mountains, most of them are over or below a thousand meters but connect closely to Truong Son mountain range, also is the end of Southern point so the mountain terrain is very diversifies. The highest mountain peak is Hon Giao (2.062 m) which is located in Khanh Vinh district. The large plains in Khanh Hoa include Nha Trang, Dien Khanh located on either sides of the Cai River with the area of 135 km2; Ninh Hoa plain is built up by Dinh River, an area of 100 km2. Besides, Khanh Hoa has two narrow plains are Van Ninh and coastal Cam Ranh plain, along with small amounts of cultivated area in the valley of the mountainous areas of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh districts.
Khanh Hoa province is one of the provinces that have beautiful coastlines in Vietnam. The coastline stretching from Dai Lanh end to Cam Ranh Bay, approximately 385 km in length based on water’s edge with many bays, lagoons, bays, 200 big and small islands along the coast. Khanh Hoa has six big lagoons and bays such as Van Phong, Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Hon Khoi, Nha Phu and Dai Lanh. In which, the most prominent bay is Cam Ranh with a length of 16 km, width of 32 km, connected to the sea via the Strait of 1.6 km wide, with a depth of 18m - 20m and is often considered as the seaport with the best natural conditions in Southeast Asia.

Rivers
In general, rivers in Khanh Hoa are short and steep; the whole province has 40 rivers with the length from 10 km and up, forming a network of rivers distributing quite thick. Most rivers originate from the western mountains in provinces and flow into the sea in the East. Along the coast, just about 5 km-7 km, there is an estuary. The major rivers in Khanh Hoa must mention Cai river in Nha Trang, Dinh river (or called Cai river in Ninh Hoa), To Hap river (Khanh Son district).

Climate
Khanh Hoa is a province in the South central coast, located in the tropical savanna climate. However, Khanh Hoa climate has unique features with distinct characteristics. Compared to other provinces, cities in the North from Ca Pass northward and southward from Ghenh Da Bac, climate in Khanh Hoa is relatively mild due to the nature of ocean climate. There are only 2 seasons: rainy and sunny season. The rainy season is short, from the middle of September to the middle of December in solar calendar, focusing on two months October and November; the rainfall is more than 50% of the rainfall in the year. The rest months are sunny season, an annual average of 2,600 hours of sunshine there. The annual average temperature of Khanh Hoa is about 26.7 ° C.
